Pratham initiated work in Jharkhand through the library program and gradually the Read India campaign took over. Initially the campaign began in two blocks of a few districts and was then scaled upto cover five districts. The Read India campaign in the state is largely volunteer based, though in the Deogarh district piloting of Read India in ongoing in one block with the district government support.
