Our coverage in Nagaland

Nagaland
Pratham started operations in Nagaland in September 2006 in partnership with the SSA Nagaland with a pilot program to impact English speaking and reading in 120 Government Primary Schools.

In 2007, Pratham conducted a Read Nagaland Program which was run in 913 villages through volunteers. This was a community based program, where Pratham trained and mobilized village volunteers to run libraries and help children with their reading.

From April 2008 to November 2008, Pratham worked with the government to run a reading basics program ‘I Can Read’ to impact reading levels of children of Std I and II. This program ran in 1,306 government schools in all 11 districts of the state.

Currently Pratham is implementing an ‘I Can Read and Do Math’ program in collaboration with the SSA Nagaland to impact learning levels of all children in Std I-IV in 1,471 government primary schools across the state. Pratham has a statewide partnership with the government in Nagaland and the program is running in the schools through the government school teachers.

Pratham has had strong support from the SSA Nagaland since operations started in 2006.
