10 districts, 300 villages and 6000 households in Haryana have
already been surveyed by the ASER team. There are an equal
number that are yet to be surveyed. Data from remote locales of
the state has started to pour in to the central data collection
centre in New Delhi. The resourcefulness of the ASER team was
visible when a team of two from the Pratham Haryana team landed
up in the New Delhi office early one morning with the first set
of data. When quizzed on how they had transported thousands of
data collection sheets from Jhajjar (a district in Haryana), 70
kms away, they casually mentioned that they had balanced the
reams of paper between them on their motorbike and zipped into
the capital.
The incredulous Pratham Delhi team made the duo demonstrate
their feat again for the cameras and the pictures are carried
below.
