Pratham began working in the state of Himachal Pradesh in 2005 and today has a variety of programmes focusing on students in upper-primary. Some of the key programmes are:
Digital Classrooms are set up in 50 schools across the state.
Vocational Training programmes are geared to train youth in digital literacy. English and soft skills are being taught in a few locations.
Special Programmes

Pratham Supported Schools programme targeting students in Std. 6–9 is active in 11 blocks.
ITC funding a special programme called 'Read India Plus' which reaches out to children in pre-school till Std. 8. This is being implemented in Solan.

Government Tie Ups

In 2007, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Himachal Pradesh launched ''Aadhar', a state-wide programme that aimed to improve the language and numeracy skills of children in primary schools. The programme was modified in 2009 and continued under the name of 'Aadhar Plus' in collaboration with Pratham.

In 2010, the 'Samvridhhi' programme was launched in 4,500 upper-primary schools in collaboration with Pratham. This aimed to help students in Std. 6-8 with English, Math, Science and Language.

Pratham has also supported SSA with the development of the Child Tracking System.


Padho Kullu:- Kullu District administration took initiative as per MHRD guidelines who have suggested to give emphasis on early Literacy and Numeracy across country. Kullu District administration, DIET Kullu and Pratham Education Foundation entered into a partnership on Padho Kullu program in order to work with Govt. Cluster primary schools on Std.-1 and 2 during the academic year of 2014-15.
