Pratham was founded in 1995, to provide pre-school education to children in Mumbai slums. Over the last 27 years, Pratham has grown to be one of the largest non-profit organizations working to provide quality education to children and youth in over 20 states and union territories across the country, through a range of interventions.

About Role
This position will hold responsibility for the overall accounting at state/project level. Detailed responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following broad areas:
Role & Responsibility
Audit Planning and Execution
- Develop and implement an annual internal audit plan.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of high risk within the organization.
- Execute internal audit engagements
Risk Management and Control
- Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls
- Identify areas of potential operational improvement
- Provide recommendations to enhance the organization’s risk management processes
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Monitor and report on the implementation of audit recommendations
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and best practices in internal auditing and non-profit governance.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the Finance and Program teams to understand processes and identify risks.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior management.
Continuous Improvement
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of audit processes.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Educational / Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance/CA/Semi-qualified CA
- At least 3 years of experience in internal auditing, preferably within the non-profit sector.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Proficient with MS Office, including word, excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English or Hindi and regional language.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
