About Pratham
Pratham was founded in 1995, to provide preschool education to children in the slums of Mumbai. Over the last 29 years, Pratham has grown to be one of India’s largest NGOs working to provide quality education to underprivileged youth and children in over 21 states and union territories across the country, with a range of interventions. Pratham is a widely recognized organization, having received notable awards such as the Lui Che Woo Prize, the WISE Prize for Innovation, Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, the Henry R Kravis Prize in Leadership and the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year for Public Service. About Pratham-Shah PraDigi Innovation Centre
PraDigi Centre is a unit of Pratham which aims at developing technology-enabled learning solutions. PraDigi has produced over 10000 videos and 500 learning games in the last few years. These resources can be viewed on www.prathamopenschool.org
These resources have been deployed and monitored in many rural and urban communities. With each passing year, this repository of content – videos, games, stories, and applications has grown to cater to the interests and engagement of children as well as youth. Translating videos into 14 regional languages helped us become relevant and accessible to learners in all states.
About Learning for Life
Pratham’s curriculum is divided into 3 major domains – Learning for School, Learning for Life and Learning for Work. Started in 2018 with a simple motive to go beyond school curriculum and encourage the innate creativity and curiosity among children in rural India, Learning for Life domain focuses on building 21st century skills, promoting physical and mental wellbeing and creating environmental consciousness among children and youth for a sustainable future. It is based on a 4Ex framework – Expose, Explore, Experiment and Exchange. This involves creating age appropriate digital learning content, running awareness campaigns in communities and schools, organizing workshops, conducting various courses and activities for children and youth.
Health Literacy
To promote physical and mental well being, the Learning for Life Domain has been working on creating health literacy among children and youth, especially in rural India. This involves developing engaging, contextual and relatable digital content, running various online courses, conducting webinars and so on. Life domain actively collaborates with other organizations, doctors and medical institutions for this cause.
This year, the focus is on developing digital content, in the form of videos, audios, and reading cards for adolescents, especially young girls and women.
Content Developer (Health) : Job Description
The Content Developer position in the Digital Content team offers young, motivated and energetic individuals an opportunity to be an integral part of Pratham’s Digital work across the country. This person will play an important role in developing and curating digital content, designing engaging activities and organizing various online/offline courses/ workshops for youth and children.
Creative script writing skill and an ability to simplify complex health information into digestible digital resources are one of the primary requirements for this position.
Their main responsibilities are as follows
Digital Content Creation:
- Designing age appropriate content packages and courses on health topics
- Writing engaging scripts for video resources
- Creating posters, WhatsApp messages and other communication material using tools like Canva
- Designing activities, challenges, assignments for the courses
- Creating, reviewing and uploading assessment questions on appropriate digital platforms
Coordination & Communication:
- Coordinating with different teams to create and/or curate engaging content
- Identifying possible collaborators like organizations, subject experts etc.
- Communicating with external partners to create content packages and activities
- Tracking content development progress and periodically updating key stakeholders
Pilots & Training:
- Designing and conducting health workshops, trainings, webinars
- Conducting and monitoring pilots and/or roll out of programs
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Minimum graduation degree in public health, home science, biology, life science or such fields related to health
- Experience in creative content writing (Script writing experience is advantageous)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Hindi and English. Functional knowledge of Marathi would be advantageous
- An aptitude for research and learning on the job
- Attention to detail and readiness to work on multiple drafts to improve quality
- Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, PPT, Google Suite, Canva and such softwares
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
- Multitasking and following deadlines
- Willingness to travel across rural India as per program requirements
