OVERVIEW
With teams spread across the country, we have taken up initiatives and activities to support relief and safety measures in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through our Mumbai Food Project initiative, we are providing support those most in need. Our resource teams have worked to put together safety videos in regional languages both to inform people and practice.
UPDATES
MUMBAI FOOD PROJECT
The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has caused massive disruptions and dislocations globally. The situation is, particularly, grim in India, where an emergency lockdown has brought life to a screeching halt for many, especially the migrants, daily wage earners and the poor. Maharashtra is among the worst-hit states by the pandemic, and Mumbai city alone houses several vulnerable families and individuals.
Leveraging Pratham’s extensive reach through established educational initiatives in underprivileged areas along with the support of our supply partners, we have delivered more than 1 million meals to workers in 12 locations across Mumbai since March 30th.
We are serving pre-packaged meals daily to migrant laborers and other communities that have no cooking facilities. For other daily wagers and under-privileged communities that have no income but have cooking facilities we are providing ration kits.

To help our team members, their families, and those in the communities we support be better prepared to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic, we have taken the initiative to make information on safety, health and hygiene available in regional languages.
We have circulated authentic information on health and hygiene in our network. We have also translated videos by the World Health Organization into 9 regional languages.
WHO videos in Regional Languages
We also created easy to understand videos on handwashing and mask making, specially targeted to children. All resources are available on www.prathamopenschool.org
